Elevate Your Space with Professional Floor Coatings
The Prestige Floor Coating Advantage
For many homeowners and business owners, concrete floors can be something of an afterthought. These floors may seem sufficient for certain purposes, such as to store automobiles and tools in a garage or to hold industrial equipment. However, adding epoxy coatings to floors can provide many benefits, including a more aesthetically pleasing look, the addition of non-skid or chemically-resistant surfaces, the ease of cleaning, and the prevention of cracks and damage. At Prestige Floor Coating, we provide professional floor coatings that will protect concrete floors, provide for easier maintenance, and minimize exposure to chemicals that may potentially be harmful.
Our professional technicians are highly trained, certified, and experienced in the installation of floor coatings. Regardless of the size of the area, the shape of the space, or any unique features, we will fully evaluate and prepare a floor for coating and ensure that all steps are followed to provide a strong, long-lasting surface.
Steps Followed During a Floor Coating Application
Our team will take the time and effort to make sure floor coatings are applied correctly. The full process usually takes two to three days, and it will involve the following steps:
- Surface preparation: This crucial step will ensure that epoxy coatings will be able to bond with the floor correctly. Grinders are used to make sure the floor is uniform and has a porous surface that the coating will adhere to correctly. With our state-of-the-art equipment, we can thoroughly prep the surface while reducing the amount of dust that may be generated and removing any potential contaminants.
- Surface repairs: To ensure a uniform, level surface after the coating is applied, we will take steps to repair cracks or other irregularities. Filling in any holes, pits, or damage to surfaces will ensure that the coating will form a smooth finish after it is applied.
- Coating application: Several layers of coating will be applied to the floor. The first layer is a "bond" coat that is designed to accommodate the moisture levels in the concrete floor and ensure that the epoxy coating will adhere to the surface. Polymer layers will then be applied using the selected colors, and color chips or other features may be added to provide specific styles or textures. After these layers dry overnight, sanding or scraping will be used to ensure that the floor will have the proper texture.
- Clear coating: A clear top coat will be applied. Depending on the coating system used, multiple layers of clear coat may be used. This will strengthen the coating and ensure that it will be durable while providing a smooth finish and a shiny surface.
After the final coats are applied, around 24 hours will be needed to ensure that the floor coating can fully dry and cure. After 24 hours, the floor may be used lightly, and after 48 hours, full service can resume, including traffic by motor vehicles or other heavier equipment, if appropriate.
